The area is easily reached by car, coach and train.

From the north and south west, the M5 motorway will bring you to the edge of the district, and it is then only a short drive on pleasant country roads from Junction 23 to Glastonbury and Wells.

Motorists using the M4 from London and the south east have a choice of routes. They can either join the M5 at Jn. 20 or leave the M4 at Jn. 17 or 18 to arrive in Frome and eastern Mendip. The M3/ A303 also gives direct access to southern Mendip, via the A37.

By train, there are main line services from London to Frome and Castle Cary. From other parts there are frequent services into Bristol (Temple Meads), Bath and Taunton, from all of which there are good bus connections into the district. Details from the National Rail Enquiry Line. TeI. 0345 484950.

National Express long distance coach services operate daily services from most regional centres to Frome, Glastonbury, Street, Shepton Mallet and Wells. (Tel: 0990 808080 for information.)

Within Mendip local bus services are mainly operated by “First Badgerline” and some independent local operators.
