The 10th Annual
Wells Charity Boules Tournament, to be held in Wells Market Place Sunday
11th July, 2010 |
supported by Rock House Dental Surgery & the
Rotary Clubs of Avalon & Wells
It’s been an
incredible 10 years since we first embarked on the Wells Charity
Boules tournament and we’re back this year with sponsorship from
Rock House Dental Surgery.
The idea behind
the boules tournament followed a trip to Nepal by a group of
Rotarians from Avalon and Wells in 2000. We came back with the
determination to raise money for The Nepal Trust to support the
projects we’d seen, whilst having fun at the same time; hence
the boules. Among the Rotary group was Richard Leworthy, of Rock
House Dental Practice, who’s been a great asset on so many
levels, not least in providing much needed dental care to the
Nepalese villagers. We’ve subsequently revisited Nepal in 2007
and will be back again in Autumn this year to help with the
rebuilding of Torpa Health Clinic.

Organised by the
Rotary Clubs of Avalon and Wells, forty-eight teams, consisting
of local families, businesses, Rotarians and Boules enthusiasts,
will compete throughout the day, with play commencing at 9.30am
and finishing at 5.30pm.
